We all lead busy lives so anything that makes our lives easier is a good thing, and having my bike dropped off and collected at the rally site suited me well. The team at We Move Bikes have been exceptional to deal with, always friendly, always professional, and great value. I wish Paul and all the guys at We Move Bikes every success. We Move Bikes delivering motorcycles for testing to my office has made all the difference to me being able to ‘ride and write’ the latest models. Like most people in the print media with deadlines, I don’t have a great deal of spare time. I split my working week between being a Photographer and a Motorcycle Journalist, which means if I have to collect and return a test bike I lose two productive working days. A couple of days out ‘on a jolly’ may have a certain appeal for a biker who enjoys riding - my employers, however, have a different view.
Logistics also play a major part in my collecting/returning a test bike. In the past I had to use a dealership (not an H-D dealer, I must stress) in London for one manufacturer’s test fleet which, obviously, entailed return trips to and from Southampton. Trains were a severe problem as I had to use the busy mainline and underground network while lugging a large kit bag stuffed full riding gear, boots and helmet. Why not use my own bike? The dealership was unwilling, due to liability and lack of storage space, to allow me to leave my own bike there whilst using the test bike. A colleague providing lifts was out of the question.
Having We Move Bikes turn up at my office with a bike solves all my problems and ensures the latest models are reviewed as quickly as possible. A main factor is that I don’t even have to be at the office when the bike is delivered, a very favourable solution for my employers as I can spend my day working – constructively – for the paper. The We Move Bikes crew leave the bike in our secure car park (right outside our main doors to be exact) then complete necessary paperwork with our receptionists and hand over the keys. Security should be a very important consideration for all parties, by this method I can ride into my office in the morning and return home on the test bike. A small consideration perhaps, but as my garage is rather full with bikes I wouldn't otherwise have space for the test bike. I’m very reluctant to leave bikes in the open.
The same arrangement applies to collection, which means that I haven’t lost any working time and I have ridden a professionally prepared machine. Now there is an important consideration - We Move Bikes have always provided bikes which have been thoroughly checked, as per a hand-over delivery sheet, and topped up with fuel. No more do I have to collect a bike only to look for the nearest petrol station, or carry out a pre-ride inspection. Taking charge of an umpteen thousand pound motorcycle shouldn't be undertaken lightly, but my experiences with Paul and his team is that I receive a bike which has been professionally prepared and is safe to take out on the road. Invaluable, in my opinion.
